From pg. 38 of the outline:
Charles: I’ll need time. Erik’s not... you’re asking me to almost completely overwrite his personality. I’ll have to recreate almost all of his memories, rebuild everything without destroying his control over his mutation. I’m not even sure I can do this without damaging him irreparably.
Shaw: I’m sure you’ll do your very best.
He claps Charles on the shoulder and leaves him with Emma, who tells Charles that Shaw wants some failsafes built in in case the conditioning breaks down or Charles should try to double-cross them. Emma will give Charles a psionic bubble to work in so that he doesn’t have to block out others’ thoughts, but she will stick around to test the final product before Erik’s sent anywhere.
Charles takes off the helmet and takes a look at Erik’s mind, seeing what’s been done to it already. It’s hack-work and he says as much. Emma shrugs -- it’s Betsy. He also says that he can’t do anything until Erik’s got all of the drugs out of his system. Emma’s not sure that’s safe -- Erik’s really very good at noticing the metals in the human body and the cabin still has plenty he can work with. Charles assures her that he can keep Erik immobilized on all levels and he cannot possibly attempt to build Westminster Abbey out of jello.
The scene ends with Charles sitting on a chair next to Erik’s bed, alone with him. He picks up Erik’s hand and squeezes it. “Oh, my friend, what have I done?”

Date: 2011-08-27 01:18 (UTC)The writing is flowing, thanks. At least for now. I had a mild hurdle to clear before getting to the above point.
