Thomas Kretschmann Joins Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Hey, Joss, I did modern-day MCU HYDRA first. But thank you for that bit of casting.
(Yes, I know, there are other possibilities, but I think HYDRA is more probable than ninjas.)
HYDRA and Ultron together in the same flick is a lot of supervillainery on one screen. Which doesn't automatically mean trouble in terms of overstuffing -- The Dark Knight had both the Joker and Two-Face and handled it with grace. I think that's a good a model as any: start with an overt threat and have a second rise up in the middle of the action.
Kretschmann will do fine. He's a good actor and, lord knows, he has played enough Nazis.
Possibly the more interesting angle is how/if this is leading in to Cap3. Nothing here makes my pet theory/suggestion that the Reborn arc gets used any less possible. Heck, bringing in Kretschmann's character makes it arguably more possible.
