That's good to know about the series, it's been recommended a bunch, but I found the Miller/Julie stuff in the first book so off-putting I almost didn't finish it. I haven't watched the series to compare, but in the book Julie is joined by an ex-wife whose only job is to be imagined casting judgey frowns at Miller.

There were legit things I really liked about the book, but that part was, as they say, yikes.
