Spotted at the Eastern European supermarket: CCCP brand ice cream. My first question is why? and my second question is 'is it any good?'...

Did buy Korovka wafer cookies, which are apparently made by a company named Rot Front, which I hope sounds better in Russian. Also Roshen candies of various types and BEPEC cherry preserves, because there is no politics in my shopping cart. And Latvian-style bread and Polish tea and yellow carrots and pickles and radishes. The food fetish in my fic is come by honestly.

Eastern supermarkets are the best. My local one has a jam section that takes up about half an isle, and includes such things as rose petal jam and fig spreads. Also pickles. So many pickles. I love it.

Rot (рот) is mouth in Russian. Front (фронт) means, well, front. So...front mouth? I'm not sure if that's better or not. There are probably cultural connotations that I'm not aware of, or maybe it's a joke. Russians have a strange sense of humor. (I say with love. Some of my best friends, etc.)
